Institutional accreditation

INTRODUCTION

The Institutional Accreditation of university centres is a very important tool in the quality assurance of official university degrees as it is based on the Internal Quality Assurance Systems (IQAS) and under the advice and external evaluation of quality agencies.

The certification of Institutional Accreditation is carried out by the Council of Universities, taking into account the evaluation reports drawn up by the quality agencies. With this certification, the centres include in the same process the renewal of the accreditation of the degrees they offer. For this, it is a requirement to have the certification of the implementation of their Internal Quality Assurance System (IQAS).

The ACCUEE, after external validation by the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA) and its registration in the European Quality Assurance Register for Higher Education (EQAR), assumes as an evaluation activity, within its competences, the evaluation process for Institutional Accreditation (initial, follow-up and renewal) of the centres of the universities of the Canary Islands, both public and private.

For this purpose, and taking into account the work carried out during these years by the universities of the Canary Islands, ACCUEE will apply the Institutional Accreditation Program for University Centers of ANECA: https://www.aneca.es/en/accreditation-of-centres.
