Organic Law 2/2023, of 22 March, on the University System, establishes that the Autonomous Community is responsible for authorising the introduction of new official degrees in the universities located in its territory.

New degrees that are introduced in Canarian universities must undergo two ex-ante evaluations. On the one hand, they must undergo a process of authorisation for implementation, in application of Decree 168/2008, of 22 July. To this end, the university makes the corresponding application to the Regional Ministry of Universities, which asks the ACCUEE to draw up a report in which the requirements are evaluated and the general criteria established in the aforementioned Decree are assessed. On the other hand, the University requests the verification of the study plan from the Council of Universities, and the latter asks the ACCUEE to draw up the corresponding evaluation report.

Through these complementary processes, compliance with part 1 of the ESG in the design of the training programmes is assessed.
