¿QUIÉNES PARTICIPAMOS EN EL PROGRAMA AICLE?
A YEAR FULL OF ENGLISH
This year we have carried on different activities and we have celebrated some festivities. Here are some examples.
Este año hemos llevado a cabo diferentes actividades y hemos celebrado algunas festividades. Aquí les dejamos algunos ejemplos.
1. ENGLISH DAY
Every Friday we enjoyed our English Day at school. That day we played some music, made different assemblies and watched videos related with the English culture. All these activities were organized by teachers and students who worked cooperatively. We could also enjoy doing something worthy together to encourage such enjoyment, learning about animal movements.
What a fantastic day!
Cada viernes tenemos nuestro English Day en la escuela. Ese día disfrutamos con música, diferentes asambleas en inglés y algunos videos organizados por profesores y algunos alumnos/as que han ayudado con la organización. También, podemos disfrutar mientras aprendemos sobre los movimientos de los animales leyendo carteles y realizando esa acción señalada.

2. HALLOWEEN AND FINAOS AT PLAYA HONDA SCHOOL
Last October, Playa Honda School celebrated Halloween; after two long years of no “togetherness” we could get together to learn more about this Irish (and American) tradition. To engage our pupils, we made a haunted gymkhana, the whole school was invited to participate in it. We recreated and adapted some traditional Halloween games such as Apple Bobbing, etc.
Everybody, teachers and students, were welcomed to come dressed up with fancy, scary Halloween costumes.
Furthermore, we didn’t forget about our typical traditions, for that, we also celebrated “Los Finaos”, a Canarian tradition that goes from October 31st to November 2nd. The word finados means deceased, it’s a time to remember our loved ones that are not amongst us anymore.
During “Los Finaos” people in Canarias also gather to eat roasted chestnuts, so we thought it would be a good idea to raise money for the sixth graders’ end-of-year trip by selling a chestnut cone.
El pasado octubre, El CEIP de Playa Honda celebró Halloween; después de dos largos años sin “compañerismo” pudimos reunirnos para conocer más sobre esta tradición irlandesa (y estadounidense). Para involucrar a nuestro alumnado hicimos una gymkana encantada, se invitó a todo el colegio a participar en ella. Recreamos y adaptamos algunos juegos tradicionales de Halloween como Apple Bobbing, etc.
Todos, tanto maestros y maestras como alumnado, fueron animados a venir disfrazados con aterradores disfraces de Halloween.
Además, no nos olvidamos de nuestras tradiciones típicas, por eso también celebramos “Los Finaos”, una tradición canaria que va del 31 de octubre al 2 de noviembre. La palabra «finados» significa «fallecido», es un momento para recordar a nuestros seres queridos que ya no están entre nosotros.
Durante “Los Finaos” la gente en Canarias también se reúne para comer castañas asadas, por lo que pensamos que sería una buena idea recaudar fondos para el Viaje de Fin de Curso de los alumnos de sexto de Primaria vendiendo un cucurucho de castañas.
3. CHRISTMAS
We have lived a week full of excitement and Christmas spirit. First of all, the school have set up a food bank to support struggling local families. Then, they were watching a few Christmas movies during the last week before the Christmas holidays. Finally, our little ones from the school were lucky enough to be visited by Santa Claus, who brought with him some gifts for each of the children’s classes. He brought Christmas crackers made by our students. We will never forget that magical moment they lived!
We hope to have the pleasure of seeing Santa again next year.
Hemos vivido una semana llena de ilusión y de espíritu Navideño. Primero, el cole ha organizado un banco de alimentos para las familias más necesitadas de nuestra localidad. Luego, estuvimos viendo películas navideñas la semana antes de irnos de vacaciones. Finalmente, nuestros peques contaron con la suerte de que nos viniera a visitar Santa Claus que nos trajo consigo crackers navideños hechos por nuestro alumnado ¡Nunca olvidarán ese mágico momento vivido!
Esperamos contar con la visita de nuestro Santa Claus para el próximo año.
4. EASTER
Spring was finally here!
Before our week-long Easter break the Clil Team organized an Easter egg hunt, as it is a tradition in the United Kingdom. In this game, children must find hidden chocolate eggs. But it wasn’t the only activity. The previous week students enjoyed activities such as painting and decorating easter eggs; making bunny baskets and so on.
It was great fun for all of us!!
¡Por fin la Primavera ha llegado!
Antes de nuestras vacaciones de Semana Santa, nuestro equipo AICLE ha organizado una búsqueda de huevos de Pascua, una tradición en Reino Unido. En esta búsqueda, el alumnado tiene que encontrar los huevos escondidos. No ha sido la única actividad. La semana anterior, el alumnado ha disfrutado de actividades como: pintar y decorar huevos de Pascua; hacer cestas para recoger huevos y más.
¡Nos lo pasamos muy bien!
5. ST. PATRICK’S DAY
Our second grade students have been able to get to know the festivity of St. Patrick through an explanatory video and learn in turn the typical gastronomy, its dances and customs of the Irish country on this day. They have then carried out an activity that unites creativity and English to express in the form of a clover, four things for which each and one feels lucky.
El alumnado de segundo de Primaria ha podido conocer la festividad de San Patricio a través de un vídeo explicativo y aprender a su vez la gastronomía típica, sus bailes y costumbres del país irlandés de este día. A continuación, han realizado una actividad que une la creatividad y el inglés para expresar en forma de trébol, cuatro cosas por las que cada uno y una se siente afortunado/a.
6. LONDON PROJECT
We are carrying out an educational project to initiate children from 3 to 5 years old into the knowledge of English culture, which focuses on the knowledge of the English capital: LONDON. Through didactic methods, students learn about such characteristic aspects of the London capital as ‘Big ben’ or ‘Red telephone box’. The project will be developed during the third quarter by the TEACHERS.
With this project full of illusion and color, we want to introduce our children’s students to the main characteristics of one of the most famous English-speaking capitals in the world.
Estamos llevando a cabo un proyecto educativo para iniciar a los niños de 3 a 5 años en el conocimiento de la cultura inglesa, el cual se centra en el conocimiento de la capital inglesa: LONDRES. A través de métodos didácticos, el alumnado conoce aspectos tan característicos de la capital londinense como ‘Big ben’ o ‘Red telephone box’. El proyecto se desarrollará durante el tercer trimestre por los TEACHERS.
Con este proyecto cargado de ilusión y color queremos dar a conocer a nuestro alumnado de infantil las características principales de una de las capitales de habla inglesa más famosa del mundo.
7. ROBOTICS
This year, children were introduced to Robotics. It was great fun for all of us! This way we also learned to give directions in English while learning new vocabulary about different topics such as places in town, home, materials and so on.
We had a whale of a time at school!
Este año, se ha introducido a los niños/as en el mundo de la Robótica. ¡Ha sido muy divertido para todos/as! Así, también aprendimos a dar direcciones en inglés mientras aprendemos nuevo vocabulario sobre diferentes temas como los lugares de la ciudad, la casa, los materiales y más.
¡Lo pasamos bomba en el cole!
8. ART SHOW
There’s no better time to experiment with art than Infant and Primary Education! Our kiddos are buzzing with creativity and always willing to try something new. In every single art project, they used different techniques, so kids learnt to paint, sculpt, draw, weave, and more. Plus, they discovered some famous artists along the way. Save all of our students’ work and put together an art show at the end of the year for families and themselves.
Our little artists were proud to show that they could do.
No hay mejor momento para experimentar que en la etapa Infantil y Primaria. Nuestros peques están repletos de creatividad y siempre intentan algo nuevo. En cada proyecto han usado diferentes técnicas, aprendieron a pintar, a esculpir, a dibujar y mucho más. Además, a lo largo del camino descubrieron artistas famosos. Unificar todo ese trabajo y colocarlo todo junto en una Galería de Arte al final del curso para que las familias y ellos mismos puedan disfrutarlo ha sido enriquecedor.
Nuestros/as pequeños/as artistas estaban muy orgullosos de sus producciones.
