It’s not about language. It’s about living.
My second Project. Second Friday. It’s about ERASMUS+
I teach in a Secondary High School with more or less eighty teachers and nine hundred students. Our School is in the south of Tenerife. Tenerife is the biggest island of the Canary Island archipelago. It’s belongs to Spain but It’s three hours by plane from Madrid.
Our Economy is based on tourism and about one million people live there.
In our school there are about fifty different nationalities.
For all of these reasons we need to improve our international program. Our principal has been leading a group of teachers to gain a grant from the Erasmus Project. Last year we obtain a grant to start our project. Learning in the world: from my classroom to Europe. We have been developing a program to discover Europe, but no only to discover Europe, It’s about experiencing Europe, Knowing how Europe is…?
And this is that I want to tell us today. It’s about Erasmus+ Project.
“Erasmus+ is the EU’s programme to support education, training, youth and sport in Europe. Its budget of €14.7 billion will provide opportunities for over 4 million Europeans to study, train, gain experience, and volunteer abroad”.
I would like to know what Europe is for you? What is Europe about for you?
It’s not just about learning a new lenguage.
Erasmus project is about people and how these people could learn to live together, to live in peace, to cooperate, to collaborate,.
There are several ways to succeed:
1) trainning teachers /structurated courses / Jobshadowing / teaching in a foreing country
2) working with other teachers
3) sharing experiences between teachers and students
3.1) etwinning- share in the cloud
3.2.) mobilities (movement-not traveling) around Europe.
I you want to be funded you need to apply a grand. This is our first Erasmus Project and we have understood that the most important fact is meeting people. New technologies offer us a lot of possibilities to receive it.
But I think the best way to meet people is by going to the source. This is the real reason why we do this course. Obviously, we need to learn English, but not only about language, It is about experiencing.
